The internet was buzzing after Post Malone’s solo performance at the CMA Awards. Some were critical of the emotional speech, while others were complimentary.

Wearing a purple embroidered suit and cowboy hat, Malone embraced the country style and blended in with the evening’s atmosphere. His performance, however, provoked an internet discussion with responses ranging from dissatisfied to blatantly nasty.
Not holding back, one viewer exclaimed, “Make it stop! This is torture.Another wrote, “I can’t believe he is country,” criticizing his association with the genre. It sounded terrible.
Some fans even left a mixed-emotional comment.One said, “I’m a huge fan, and he’s off tonight.” Others were critical. “Award for the worst performance of the night goes…to @postmalone,” one comment said.
The criticism kept coming in. “Well, I mean he is talentless anyway,” said one unreserved viewer.Another said the performer was “off key, off pitch,” adding, “Is that his usual sound? Why he’s renowned is beyond me.I had never heard him sing until now.

Not everyone completely disregarded the endeavor. One user commented that while they enjoyed the music, the execution was “dreadful.”
In spite of the deluge of criticism, the “Congratulations” hitmaker also received encouragement from his followers. He was referred to as a “musical talent” by some, while others hailed the song itself as “terrific.”

The artwork of Malone also captivated many. One reader posted, “I adore Posty’s portrayal as Cowboy # and this song he wrote for his little girl ♥️.” Another said, “This music was made by Posty! He is so talented that you have to [sic] adore him. Welcome to the world of country music.
Malone opened the 2024 CMA Awards with a dynamic performance with Chris Stapleton before going on stage for a solo performance. Setting the tone for the evening, the duo performed “California Sober,” a recent duet from Malone’s “F-1 Trillion” album.
Malone’s concept of utilizing country music has been developing for almost ten years. “WHEN I TURN 30 I’M BECOMING A COUNTRY/FOLK SINGER,” he tweeted in 2015. The rapper-turned-singer, now 29, is keeping his word.
The 18 tracks on his most recent album, “F-1 Trillion,” which was just published a few months ago, include collaborations with country music greats Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, and Tim McGraw.
“I’ve always wanted to make a record like this, but for the longest time, it seemed so inaccessible, because I didn’t know how the hell it worked,” Malone said in an interview with Apple Music.
Despite initially not knowing anything about Nashville’s music industry, Malone has a strong country impact. His admiration for the genre was influenced by his dad’s fondness of ’90s artists like Paisley and McGraw, as well as his mother’s faves, such as Hank Williams and George Strait.

Eventually, those early influences led him to Nashville, where he collaborated with some of the biggest stars in country music.
During a visit on “The Howard Stern Show” in 2022, Post Malone made it apparent that he is not limited by genres. Nothing is keeping him from getting a camera, setting up a studio in Utah, and simply recording a country album to post on YouTube, he admitted. “I have permission to do that.”
In response to Stern’s question about why he hadn’t done so, Malone described the delicate balancing act between his obligations. He added that he also places a high priority on writing music, creating beats, and caring for his family, saying, “I am happily obligated to do concerts and show love to my fans.”
He acknowledged that the largest obstacle to completely following his goals in country music is time. Malone continued, “There is a lot of time involved, and it’s about finding that space to allot that time.” He then made a suggestion that he would eventually record a country album if he ever had a year to himself.
