Years after the passing of her costar Luke Perry in Beverly Hills, 90210, Shannen Doherty’s admirers are honoring the late actor.
Many fans honored the actress by remembering how she and Perry, who passed away earlier in 2019 from a stroke, portrayed lovers Brenda and Dylan on the well-liked series, after Doherty’s death at the age of 53 was revealed.
“So sad to hear about Shannen Doherty,” posted a supporter on social media. She heroically battled cancer while being a phenomenal actor. May she find serenity in her resting place. Please greet Luke for us.
Another revealed that, just before Doherty passed away, they were scheduled to meet her at a forthcoming visit at Fan Expo Chicago in August. “She had such strength.” Happy she’s back with Luke,” they wrote.

Recalling the well-liked drama series, a third viewer complimented Doherty and Perry’s characters’ connection.
Before I really understood what shipping was, my first ship was Brenda and Dylan. Though I know that Luke and Shannen are now together, I still find it very sad that they are gone. I’m going to cry now, please excuse me,” they wrote.
Another person expressed similar feelings about the fictional couple, stating, “TV viewers of a certain age, my age, will never forget Brenda and Dylan.”
“That Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty both passed away in their 50s, which is my age, is a sad reminder for us all to not take our days or our relationships for granted,” they continued. May the great Peach Pit in the sky bring them back together.
Others, however, reflected on Doherty’s cameo in a 2019 episode of Riverdale, which Perry featured in before passing away.
One fan commented, “The Luke tribute was Riverdale’s best episode; Shannen’s guest appearance makes it so much sadder now.”
Doherty expressed her reflections on her Instagram cameo at the time, stating that she was “deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke” on the popular CW series.
Upon uploading two images of herself with the deceased actor, she added in a comment, “The care with which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful.” We miss him. Now. Afterward. Forever.
