Jackie Evancho was 10 years old and from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when she got her chance on America’s Got Talent. She started singing at eight, after her family went to see The Phantom of the Opera and she began singing the songs around the house.
Jackie earned her place through the show’s online auditions, where she won the most votes of all the YouTube clips. On the big stage, she sang the opera aria O Mio Babbino Caro with a voice far older than her years. 🎶
One judge joked that he was waiting for the lady who was really singing to come out. Another called it one of the most extraordinary performances ever seen on the show, and Sharon said she could not believe such a mature voice came from such a tiny body.
Jackie said she was so happy she felt about to burst into tears. The judges were sure America would wake up talking about the little girl who sang like an angel. 👼
