Shu Takada, 25, from Yokohama near Tokyo, says he was a very shy child who always hid behind his parents and teachers. The yo-yo changed his life and taught him the joy of expressing himself. On America’s Got Talent in 2022, he wanted to break the idea that a yo-yo is just a toy.
Simon Cowell warned him that past yo-yo acts had been a bit boring. Then Shu began, mixing lightning-fast tricks with dance moves and real stage presence, and the theatre came alive. 🔥
Howie Mandel said he had made the yo-yo cool and called him a great performer and dancer. Sofia Vergara noticed his nerves vanish the moment he started. Simon admitted he had feared the worst, but said people would watch this audition over and over in slow motion. Four yeses followed.
The shy boy from Yokohama turned a childhood toy into a performance nobody will forget. ❤️
