This Grocery Store Cashier From Cuba Stepped Onto the Stage and Surprised Every Judge

Singer holding a microphone under warm lights

Karelia grew up in Cuba in a musical family. Her mother is a singer, and the first time she performed with her and heard the applause, she knew she wanted to be an entertainer. But in Cuba, she said, it is very hard to chase a big dream.

She went to Havana, met her husband and eventually built a new life in London, Ontario, where she works as a cashier. On the Canada’s Got Talent stage she said she wanted to inspire people to believe in their dreams, and then she let her powerful voice fill the room. 🎶

The judges were clearly surprised by the strength and emotion in her voice, and the audience was behind her from the very first big note.

For a woman who was told her dream was impossible, simply standing on that stage proved everyone wrong. Karelia came to make the impossible possible, and she did. ❤️
