Her Parents Could Not Be There, So After Her Dancing Queen the Judges Called Her Dad on the Phone

Debbii Dawson lives in Los Angeles and came to her America’s Got Talent audition with her guitar. She looked calm, but admitted she was very nervous 🎸.

For Debbii, music is more than a hobby. It is her family’s legacy. Her grandfather in India taught himself to play the organ by drawing a keyboard on concrete with charcoal. He taught her dad, and her dad taught her.

Her parents even met through music. Her dad came to the US from India for college, heard someone playing piano in one of the practice rooms, and it turned out to be her mom. But on one of the most important nights of Debbii’s life, they could not be there.

Then she started to play “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, slowed down into a gentle, dreamy version that sounded nothing like the original 🎶. The room went silent and the judges leaned in.

The reactions were full of love. One judge told her that her voice was as gorgeous as she is, and said she had taken one of the most famous pop songs of all time and truly made it her own. Howie started the voting with a big yes.

Then the judges wanted her parents to share the moment. Debbii called her dad on the phone, Howie held it up to his microphone and told him his daughter had blown the roof off the place 📞. It was the perfect ending to a dream audition ❤️.
