Emmanuel Kelly came to The X Factor with his mum, his brother, his cousin and his auntie. When the judges asked how old he was, he said he was not exactly sure. He was born in a war zone in Iraq with no birth certificate and no passport.
Emmanuel explained that he and his brother were found by nuns in a shoebox in a park and taken to an orphanage, where they could hear shots outside. Then Moira Kelly walked through the orphanage door. He said it was like looking at an angel. She brought both boys to Australia for surgery and fell in love with them.
He called his mother his hero for changing his life. Then he sang “Imagine” by John Lennon 🎶, and the room went completely still as he delivered every word.
One judge said he had never been moved as much by a performance. Another told him that, regardless of his story, he has a beautiful gift and moved everyone in the room. Every judge said yes, and his family could not hold back the tears ❤️.
