Elijah is 14, comes from San Diego and is the third of nine children who share a three-bedroom house. He started playing the cello at just 2 years old on a tiny cello made for his size, and America’s Got Talent had been his dream for years.
Instead of a quiet classical piece, Elijah played his cello over a pop backing track of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings.” He moved, smiled and played with so much energy that the whole performance felt like a party. 🎶
One judge admitted the cello usually does not excite her, but she had a great time watching him. Howie said the highlight was the joy on his face, and Simon did not like the track his parents made, but praised his fantastic charisma and great potential.
Elijah went through with yeses from the judges, proving that a cello can be anything but boring. ❤️
