The Mayyas, a group of female dancers from Lebanon, came to America’s Got Talent with a dream much bigger than one audition. They explained that their name means “the proud walk of a lioness” and that being a female dancer in their country is still not fully supported.
Before starting, they asked the judges to sit closer together because they planned to hypnotize them. What followed was a stunning routine where the dancers moved as one, creating shapes that seemed almost unreal. 🎶
Howie said they really were hypnotized, Heidi thanked them for sharing a glimpse of their culture, and Simon called it arguably the best dance act the show was likely to ever see.
Then Sofia pressed her Golden Buzzer and sent the Mayyas straight to the live shows. For the dancers, it was proof of what Arab women can create on the biggest stage in the world. ❤️
