On May 11, Skyla’s sister Shayla shared a family photo of the expectant mother’s baby bulge on Instagram.
Mary Lou Retton is going to become a grandmother!
Skyla, 24, the daughter of the former Olympic gymnast, is expecting her first child. Skyla is seen posing next to Retton, 56, in a picture posted on Instagram on Saturday, May 11, by her sister Shayla, 29, who is sporting a fitting blue outfit and a noticeable baby belly.
The family was commemorating sister Emma’s graduation, per Shayla’s caption.
“The most amazing weekend spent honoring my younger sister’s graduation! We are incredibly proud of you, @emmajeankelley, and we can’t wait to watch you succeed as an adult!Shayla wrote.
Retton is the mother of Shayla, Skyla, Emma, 21, and her 27-year-old daughter McKenna, whom she shares with her ex-husband Shannon Kelley. This autumn, McKenna is expected to tie the knot.
The Olympic gymnast was able to spend Christmas with her children after spending several weeks in the intensive care unit of a Texas hospital in October, and she shared a cute Instagram photo at that time.
Retton snapped a picture of her little daughters to commemorate the occasion. The gymnast wrote “Merry Christmas” as the caption for the mirror selfie, which had all four of the daughters wearing headbands with Christmas lights on them.
Early in October, McKenna, the daughter of the former professional athlete, became the first to reveal that her mother was in a hospital in the Houston region.
She posted a note on a Spotfund fundraising website for Retton, stating, “My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life.”
Shayla expressed her gratitude on social media following Retton’s hospital discharge in late October.
She went on, “We are so grateful for everyone’s love and support. “Being grateful only scratches the surface of our hearts’ posture.”
