One fan told Oprah Winfrey that he couldn’t afford the $100 gift she recommended, saying it was a touch too much for him. The billionaire was set on fire after her “entitled” response was captured on camera at that point.
In a widely shared TikTok video, Oprah Winfrey received backlash for her perceived lack of awareness. It all began when the “Queen of all Media,” who was later revealed to be Colin Drummond, suggested that a fan purchase a jewelry box to be featured in her yearly gift round-up.
Drummond had disclosed to the talk show host that he was trying to find his sick mother a present. “That jewelry box that I had on ‘Favorite Things,’ you know, is a wonderful thing,” Winfrey said to Drummon, according to the New York Post. “It’s too costly for me,” he answered.
Winfrey retorted, “No, it’s not—it’s really not.” The TMZ employee Drummond then retorted, “It’s, like, a hundred and some or dollars,” indicating that he was hoping to buy something less costly and within his means. “Less than $100,” Winfrey remarked, looking surprised, until Drummond clarified that his mother liked heartfelt presents.
“Oh,” Winfrey retorted, “Well, then this is the ideal gift for your mom.” Although Drummond seemed happy with her second option, commenters were not overly fond of it. “You do a list of your top 10 reasons why you love her, and you make a beautiful card, and it’s your top 10.” Some even implied that Winfrey was out of touch with money.
One guy commented, “The judgment when he said $100 was too expensive.”

She was shocked to learn that $100 was too much. Another person asked, “Do they even make things that cost less than $100?”
“She’s lost touch with reality, real life, and the struggles of today because she’s lived in her own world where money isn’t an issue for years,” another reviewer wrote.
Another social media user said, “Imagine how shook she would be if she found out what many women would do for ten bucks in her liberal utopia.”
“Oprah spends over $100 on each meal,” one Winfrey critic wrote. “She has no sense of reality at all.”

Over the years, Winfrey has bought adjacent estates to expand her Montecito home, which she has christened The Promised Land.
