Cut in Vegas Five Years Earlier, a Waitress From New Jersey Came Back to AGT and Sang Like It Was Her Last Chance

Kelli Glover was 31, a waitress from Cranford, New Jersey, when she walked back onto the America’s Got Talent stage. She told the judges this was not her first time. In 2009 she had auditioned, made it to the Vegas round and then got cut.

She said it was devastating, and that for a while she did not want to come back. But during five years of waiting tables, she had time to reflect and learned that she could be strong. This time, she said, she was the hungriest and most determined she had ever been 🎤.

Then she sang I Have Nothing, and her powerful voice filled the theater. The audience rose to its feet.

The judges could not believe she had been cut before. One said her voice had texture, emotion and real quality. Another told her that her voice went right through them, and that this was the kind of moment they wait for. Then the yeses came in, and Kelli finally got the second chance she had been waiting for ✨.
