Imen, who has worn a headscarf since she was eleven years old, stated that she saw her hijab as her crown and that she was inspired to uplift Muslim girls in her neighborhood and anyone else who might be observing. Her father, who had never taken her singing seriously previously, was not aware that she was performing that day, thus her audition carried a great deal of personal significance. For Imen, receiving four “yes” votes from the judges was not as significant as receiving a “yes” from her father and the entire crowd, which confirmed her decision to follow her dream of becoming a musician.
Imen sang an incredibly moving cover of Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful” as her song.
