Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, has made a heartfelt plea to make amends with his daughter and get to know his grandchildren, Lilibet and Archie. Thomas, who is no longer with Meghan, publicly stated in a poignant message that he wanted to get back in touch. Getting close to turning 80, he begged the Duchess of Sussex to let him see his grandchildren. This attempt at reconciliation follows Meghan’s open interview about her tense connection with her family and coincides with persistent conflict between the father and daughter.
The desire of Thomas Markle to hear from his daughter: Thomas told the Daily Mail, “I’ve never been one for birthdays, but Meghan, the person I most want to hear from, won’t be in touch.”
“They are getting to the age where they will start asking questions, as all kids do,” Mr. Markle remarked.
They will inevitably question their parents at some point as to why they have cut them off from both sides of the family.
The King of England is one of their two grandfathers who has expressed a desire to see them. According to MailOnline, “I never in my 80 years thought I’d be in the same boat as the King.”
He was originally invited to escort Meghan down the aisle for her 2018 royal wedding, but he was unable to go due to health concerns. Later on, he came clean about working with a photographer to setup paparazzi shots. He chose not to go to the wedding in order to spare the royal family embarrassment.
“I would love to meet my grandchildren, but at this point, even a photograph would make me happy,” Thomas continued. The 80-year-old has not yet met Lilibet and Archie. When he looked back on his life, he saw that his achievements had been eclipsed by recent happenings. “I wish we could have resolved this situation,” Thomas said, expressing disappointment that he won’t get to meet Harry or hear from him. Thomas never thought he would live to be 80. I was always willing and prepared.
