The actor married a woman who was only a few millimeters taller than him, despite the fact that he is only 112 cm tall. Despite physicians’ warnings that the children might inherit their parents’ dwarfism, the couple had two children.
Kenny Baker started out in show business as a stage performer rather than a movie actor. He was a member of dancing and comedy troupes at circuses and fairs when he was younger, and his diminutive height (112 cm) made him stand out.
His height, which in a normal life may have been a barrier, gave him access to the movie business when he was asked to play R2-D2 in “Star Wars” in 1976.
At the time, the robot suit’s systems were flawed, therefore a small, pliable actor with acting skills was required.
Baker fit the bill well. Even though his face was hardly ever shown on screen, his role as R2-D2 helped him become a worldwide symbol.
Like him, Yvonne Baker was tiny in stature, and she was Kenny Baker’s wife.
They were quite close because of their similar heights and life situations; according to Kenny, they fully understood one another and helped one another through tough times.
Yvonne and Kenny had two kids. It’s interesting to note that none of their children inherited their parents’ dwarfism because they were both born with normal heights.
This occurs because the type of genetic mutation greatly influences the likelihood that a certain form of dwarfism will be inherited.
After a protracted illness, Yvonne passed away in 1993, and Kenny was devastated by her passing. He never got married again after she died. Kenny also passed away in 2016 at the age of 82.
