Now, Brooklyn Beckham is speaking up about the acrimonious family dispute.
He blames his own mother for wrecking his wedding in a long Instagram post.
For weeks, there has been increasing conjecture of a widening gap between Brooklyn and the other Beckham family members. Cruz Beckham, Brooklyn’s younger brother, said online that Brooklyn had blocked him and their parents on social media, which caused the problem to worsen.
However, the 26-year-old now claims that his parents are “controlling” and attempting to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
In a lengthy Instagram post on January 19, Brooklyn openly addressed the matter, revealing long-simmering difficulties about his 2022 wedding to actress Nicola Peltz and accusing his parents of manipulating media narratives.
Brooklyn writes, “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.” “Unfortunately, I have no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed because my parents and their team have continued to go to the press.”
He continued by declaring, “I do not want to reconcile with my family,” marking a final rupture from them. For the first time in my life, I’m defending myself and not being subjugated. My parents have shaped media portrayals of our family for my whole life.
“The performative social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,” Brooklyn wrote, criticizing what he called performative behavior.
Regarding the wedding event, Brooklyn stated that his mother, Victoria Beckham, abruptly withdrew from creating Nicola’s wedding gown at the last minute.
He wrote, “My mom had to find a new dress immediately because she was so excited to wear her design, but she had to cancel making Nicola’s dress at the last minute.”
Nicola has previously acknowledged that rumors circulated after she didn’t wear a Victoria Beckham design, but she has denied ever having a “feud” with her mother-in-law.
“I think it all started … because I didn’t end up wearing Victoria’s wedding dress,” she claimed in a 2022 interview with The Sunday Times. In actuality, though, I truly wanted to wear it and felt it was so lovely that Brooklyn’s mother had to make it for me.
Additionally, she portrayed a distinct chronology in 2022 in an interview with Grazia USA. “The change was occurring early enough to pivot calmly rather than in a last-minute scramble,” she said at the time.
Nicola explained, “Well, I was really thrilled to be able to wear a design that my future mother-in-law created, and I was planning on wearing Victoria’s wedding dress.”
“I found that story to be really lovely and lovely.”
“We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything,” she went on. Victoria informed my mother over the phone that her atelier was unable to attend. “Well, unfortunately, this can’t happen, so what’s the next step?” I said to my mother and Leslie.
“I’ve been a fan of Valentino and their couture for so long,” Nicola continued, adding that she finally resorted to her old favorite, Valentino. Being able to fly to [the atelier] to try on the dress was a true blessing. That is exactly what took place.
The fact that British Vogue earlier stated that Nicola’s Valentino gown was the product of “a year’s worth of conversations” with design director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s team, in addition to numerous fittings and flights to Rome, further undermines Brooklyn’s “eleventh hour” allegation.
In addition, Brooklyn made other grave accusations related to the wedding, such as saying that his parents coerced him into giving up his own name rights.
“My wife, I, and our future children would have been impacted by my parents’ constant pressure and attempts to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name in the weeks leading up to our special day,” he said.
The first dance at the wedding was possibly the most emotionally charged accusation. Brooklyn claims that his mother took over what was supposed to be a romantic time with Nicola.
“Marc Anthony called me to the stage in front of our 500 wedding guests, where my romantic dance with my wife was scheduled, but my mother was waiting to dance with me instead,” he wrote.
In front of everyone, she performed an extremely indecent dance on me. Never in my life have I felt so uneasy or ashamed.
Brooklyn wrapped off by outlining the reasons he and Nicola decided to reaffirm their vows:
“In order to make new memories of our wedding day that bring us happiness and joy rather than fear and shame, we wanted to renew our vows.”
Comparisons between Brooklyn’s allegations and Nicola’s previous remarks have only intensified discussions about what actually transpired behind the scenes and the extent of the Beckham family’s current division.
