From the minute she stepped onto the stage, ten-year-old Emanne Beasha of Northport, Florida, mesmerized the judges of America’s Got Talent (AGT). As soon as she spoke about her dad’s ice cream factory, which she joyfully acknowledged as the “best job ever,” her gentle voice and innocent appearance won over the panel. There was a striking contrast between Emanne’s young appearance and the tremendous vocal strength she was about to release, notwithstanding her diminutive stature and anxious entrance.
Emanne choose to sing an opera, a style that calls for a high level of vocal training and technical expertise. The power of her voice was immediately apparent to the judges and crowd as she started to sing. Her “little body” released a deep, rich, and strong soprano that filled the theater with a sound more often heard from older artists. Vocally, she was unbelievably talented, especially considering her small stature and the clarity and range of her voice. Her performance was so impressive that she received a standing ovation from the audience right away.
As a result of the unexpected presentation, the judges were spellbound. In the name of everyone, Howie Mandel cried out, “How does that voice come out of that little body?” Holy cow! Noting that Emanne was “so confident and so true to who you are,” Julianne Hough lauded both her voice and her presence. Despite his critical nature, Simon Cowell couldn’t hide his joy as he playfully compared her talent to “magic ice cream.” The four “yeses” were unanimously given to Emanne Beasha after her audition proved beyond a reasonable question that she was a genuine operatic prodigy.
