Ellis went with Michael Bublé’s well-known jazz song “You Make Me Feel So Young” for her performance. He gave a fantastic performance, nailing the part while exuding the confidence of a seasoned performer. In addition to singing the song, he swung, grooved, and commanded the stage, making the judges feel at ease and in awe of his poise. Alesha Dixon gushed over him, calling him a “complete showman,” and Amanda Holden, who had “never been so relaxed watching someone so young perform,” lauded the song selection as “genius.”
David Walliams’s enthusiastic embracing of the resemblance—referring to Ellis as his “mini-me” and making the joke that Ellis was “a little version of me if I had any talent”—was the most noteworthy part of the assessment. Although Simon Cowell was taken aback by Ellis’s self-assurance, he warned him against the “corny habits” of pub singers. Nevertheless, Ellis’s tremendous talent was impossible to ignore. With four ecstatic “yeses,” the entire panel swiftly decided to put the joyful crooner through, solidifying the 12-year-old’s status as a gifted performer and the unofficial son of David Walliams.
