Mickey Callisto, a 28-year-old Sunderland native, entered the Britain’s Got Talent stage with a passionate and aspirational aim. Mickey’s most immediate desire, aside from his personal dream to perform at Wembley Stadium one day, was incredibly heartwarming: if he won the prize money, he would immediately purchase a stairlift for his grandmother, who was in dire need of one. The judges and the audience were instantly won over by his modesty and lofty goals, which prepared them for his impactful performance.
Mickey decided to sing the poignant Queen hit, “Who Wants to Live Forever.” His voice was amazing from the first note on—rich, forceful, and with a remarkable range that immediately made him sound like the great Freddie Mercury. His performance demonstrated both technical mastery and a strong emotional bond with the song, and it was incredibly poignant and sad. The judges and audience were both on their feet after the incredible performance.
The sheer skill left the panel stunned. Mickey had all the mannerisms “down to a tee” and had “such quality I could listen to you all night,” according to Judge Bruno Tonioli, who had the privilege of working with Freddie Mercury. Alesha Dixon hailed the entire performance “sensational,” while Amanda Holden described his voice as “unbelievable.” Simon Cowell acknowledged his star power as well, stating that Mickey would be remembered and discussed because to his talent and wonderful attitude. Mickey Callisto took his first step toward the Wembley stage with a resounding and unanimous four “yeses.”
