The bride’s subsequent actions stunned everyone after the groom humiliated his wife by lifting his mother into his arms instead of his own 
There was an old custom in their family: the husband had to carry the bride from the church all the way home in his arms after the wedding. Every visitor was aware of this custom, and the bride had been anxious since the morning due to that particular moment, which seemed to be the most poignant and significant aspect of the day.
The bride and groom showed up at the doors after the ceremony was over and the final guests had left the church. Grinning, she stood next to him, slowly lifting her arms in anticipation that he would approach, pick her up, and start their new life together.
However, things didn’t work out that way.
Abruptly, the groom turned to face his mother instead of her. Happy and moved, she stood somewhat off to the side. Then he raised his mother into his arms in front of everyone, just as he was meant to carry his wife.
The mother put her arms around her son’s neck, they posed for pictures, laughed, and the groom appeared to be quite happy with himself.
The bride did not move. Her eyes widened in surprise as her smile gradually faded. It was as though she had lost all of her breath. The guests immediately fell silent. They witnessed the bride being directly humiliated and a flagrant breach of custom.
She found it difficult to control the fury and tears that welled up inside of her.
What’re you up to? On the edge of tears, she said, “This is our wedding.”
The bridegroom simply shrugged:
— My mom is this. And she is the most significant thing.
The bride experienced an internal rupture. And she already knew what she was going to do at that very time. Her conduct stunned everyone
The bride’s hands were shaking. How come he would do that? In public? At such a crucial time? She felt as though she had been ignored and humiliated.
The visitors stood looking at each other in silence. Some women put their hands over their mouths. There was a whisper, “You can’t do that.”
The groom continued to embrace his mother while smiling, seemingly relishing the spotlight. He didn’t even turn to face his wife.
Just enough of the bride’s approach was enough for him to notice her. Despite the quietness of her voice, the groom’s smile vanished in an instant.
— You’re mistaken if you believe I’ll put up with anything.
In front of everyone, she removed her wedding band and threw it into the grass.
The visitors let out a gasp. As though he had just realized how far he had gone, the groom froze.
He yelled, “What are you doing?” as he attempted to free his arms but was unable to let go of his mother.
“I’m coming to my own conclusions,” she remarked coolly. If you put me behind everyone else on the first day of our marriage… From this point on, things will only get worse.
Everyone was stunned when she turned around and left.
After a while, the groom let his mother down and went after her, but the guests got in the way. Some women even shook their heads and moved in front of him.
One person said, “You ruined everything.”
Another said, “A real husband doesn’t act like that.”
The bride then turned to leave. One thing was clear to her: leaving now was preferable to living a lifetime with a man like that.
