The grandma almost yelled in surprise when a young, muscular man arrived at her door. The old woman had been accumulating money to hire a “husband for an hour.”
Her life had gotten particularly hard in the last few months. She frequently grumbled to her neighbor:
— I am unable to even fix the leaky faucet. I don’t even have the proper equipment! Look at that chair. It wobbles so much that you can’t even sit on it. Additionally, the roof leaks. I must constantly and exclusively accomplish everything by myself.
Next, call a handyman or a “husband for an hour,” the neighbor groaned.
— A what?
A man comes over to fix it after you phone and specify what needs to be fixed. You simply pay him later.
The elderly woman approved of the plan. She decided to give it a shot and pulled out her funds, which she had set aside “for a rainy day.”
Someone knocked on her home the following day.
A large, muscular man wearing a blue uniform stood on the doorstep, smiling broadly and clutching a toolbox.
He said courteously, “Good afternoon, ma’am. You called for a handyman?”
The old woman was surprised because she hadn’t anticipated someone so attractive and youthful.
She answered politely, “Yes, yes, come in, my boy, I’ve got plenty of things to fix.”
Unaware that a horrible thing was going to happen, she allowed the stranger into her house
The young man put up a shelf and examined the chair, the outlet, and the faucet. He worked with confidence and speed, all the while grinning and making jokes.
The grandma was pleased and placed some juice and pastries on the table, saying, “Sit down, sweetheart, rest.” I’ll give you a treat: you have to run from house to house all day.
The man replied nonchalantly, “Have you been living alone for a long time?” after grinning and taking the glass. Do your kids not come to see you?
With a sigh, the woman related her experience to him. She had no one save her neighbor next door, her children lived far away, and her husband had died.
It appeared to be merely a courteous exchange of words.
After he was done, the grandmother stated she had to leave for a little while to deliver a letter to her neighbor.
“Go ahead, of course,” he answered coolly. I’ll just make sure that everything is safe.
However, the man changed as soon as the door shut behind her. The grin vanished. He hurried from room to room, opening cabinets, closets, and drawers.
He unplugged the TV, picked up the laptop, opened the jewelry box, and took down the old wall clock.
He was waiting by the door, seemingly prepared to go, when the grandmother came back.
He said, “All done, grandma, nothing’s leaking anymore,” and made his way out.
However, he abruptly spun around and struck her in the head with a hefty instrument as she approached.
Later in the hospital, she awoke. Fortunately, she survived a concussion.
She later complained to the agency over the phone when they brought it to her.
The woman on the phone said, “We’re sorry, ma’am, but we don’t have any employees that fit that description.” — Your address did not receive any of our employees.
The grandma muttered, “So he found me himself,” as she gently hung up and clutched the sheet in her shaking hands.
