With tears running down her cheeks, the youngster knocked on the door of the police station at midnight and pleaded for assistance, saying, “My mother needs help.”
The officers were astonished by what they observed when they hurried to the site in a rapid reaction.
A loud knocking at the station door, as if someone were beating hard, startled the on-duty police, who were used to receiving calls in the stillness of the night.
When the officers noticed a crying girl in need of assistance behind the door, they hurried out of the room.
“What happened?” the officer inquired. — Your folks are where? At this hour, why are you here?
The girl broke down in tears once more as she stammered and sobbed, “My mother needs help, please hurry.”
Once more, the police inquired: — What happened, girl? So that we know how to behave, at least provide us with some knowledge.
However, the girl was unable to respond for the second time because she was crying and unable to talk 
After gathering themselves, the cops rushed to her apartment with the youngster, realizing from her voice that every second may matter. The girl was crying the entire time. The driver was told to accelerate by the senior officer.
After arriving, they ascended to the flat. The door stood open. Even the most seasoned officer was taken aback by what they saw as they hurried inside.
At the threshold, the policemen paused, attempting to process what they were seeing. A woman was laying on the floor, barely breathing, her face showing indications of violence, and the room was in disarray with bottles all over the place and a table overturned.
Two males were standing beside her; one was displaying signs of intoxication, while the other appeared terrified and unsure of where to look. The two men were attempting to comprehend the sudden involvement as the woman on the floor was hardly breathing.
Emily trembled and tightened her fists, but she held onto her backpack.
The apartment was swiftly obtained by Hayes and Lopez. The officer quickly halted one of the males when he attempted to flee into the next room. The second was more inebriated, hardly able to stand, and was taken into custody without a fight.
Emily cried tears of delight and terror as she hurried to embrace her mother, but suddenly the fear gave way to relief. The woman was taken to the hospital after being hurriedly evaluated by the doctors who arrived with the cops.
To Hayes, Senior Officer Lopez whispered:
Her life was spared by every second.
That night, the girl smiled for the first time; her courage and resolve won out.
Emily came to understand that even in the most perilous situations, assistance can arrive without warning and that one small act of bravery can make all the difference.
Even though the police departed, the girl will always associate that night with fortitude, optimism, and the unpredictable nature of life.
She became the hero that night by saving her mother’s life.
