The poor guy was ridiculed by his fellow troops, who called him weak and defenseless and even insulted his mother. However, they were utterly taken aback when they saw the woman in uniform because they had no idea who his mother was 
He was a quiet, reserved young guy, as everyone in the army knew. He never got into arguments, never grumbled, always did what he was told, and never got into trouble. Some of his colleagues, who enjoyed feeling powerful by suppressing the weak, were drawn to that very thing.
Their pranks initially appeared to be innocuous, but eventually they became actual forms of torture, hiding his possessions, splashing water on his bed, and making fun of him in public. The comments directed at his family, particularly his mother, were the worst, though.
One day, a supervisor hissed, “Your mother’s probably just as weak as you are.” He would never forget those words.
He called home one day because he could stand it no longer. As usual, the talk started, but his mother knew something was off right away. He spoke in a shaky, painful voice. She knew she couldn’t remain silent any longer when she heard him say, “Mom, they’re bullying me.”
Later, his fellow troops were shocked to see his mother and recognize her. 
A woman in the Special Forces colonel’s outfit showed up at the base a few days later, stern and self-assured. Shock spread across the barracks when the soldiers realized she was his mother.
Her footsteps reverberated in the quiet as she strode across the yard. Her kid was battered, bruised, and had a hollow expression on his face when she arrived at the barracks. The quiet was short-lived.
She turned to face the guilty and spoke in a strong, icy tone:
— “Your purpose is to protect your nation, not to disgrace your fellow citizens.”
No one ever again dared to look at her kid with disdain after that day. Many people came to see that having the guts to defend the people you care about is what truly demonstrates strength, not yelling or clenching your fists.
