Until a local bully approached and destroyed a grandmother’s eggs at the market, everyone was taken aback until a young man in a suit intervened.
The grandma had been selling her home-raised eggs at the neighborhood market for many years. She delivered buckets of brown and white eggs laid by her cherished hens every day. She said loudly and assuredly:
— From my hens, fresh eggs! You won’t regret coming to see!
A young woman grinned as she walked up to the stall and took a dozen.
Holding the bag to her bosom, she said, “God bless you, grandma,” and walked away.
When a local troublemaker arrived, Grandma had just caught her breath. Everyone was familiar with him: conceited, jobless, and often starting arguments.
He sneered, “So, old lady, will you sell me the eggs for my price, huh?”
Grandma responded quietly, attempting to avoid confrontation, “I’m already giving them away almost for free.”
— At my cost! Or I will simply take them! — the boy yelled more loudly.
Tears filled the old woman’s eyes as she raised her hands.
Don’t harm me, son. My spouse is waiting at home due to illness. I have no bread at all to offer him.
He tightened his fists, however, and smashed a bucket of eggs against the wall as though he were deaf. Yolks and whites poured down the stones. The grandma exclaimed:
Why would you do this, Lord? Don’t break any more, but take them all! I put in hours of labor.
With a smile, the bully grabbed the second bucket, prepared to accept it.
A man in a dapper suit approached the stall at that very moment. He was instantly noticeable in the market because he was well-dressed, self-assured, and wearing a pricey watch. He paused and observed the spectacle. And everyone was shocked by what he did.
Calmly but firmly, he ordered, “Put the bucket back.”
The bully yelled, “And what’s it to you?” but the man moved in closer.
After pulling out his wallet, he counted a few hefty bucks and put them straight into the grandmother’s shaking palm.
— All of your eggs are mine. even those that are broken. Think of today as your finest sales day.
Everyone in the vicinity gasped. Her eyes were so unbelievable that the granny muttered only:
You have been sent by the Lord.
The man stopped the bully just as he was going to flee the market.
Hold on. He questioned, “Do you like taking what belongs to others for free?”
With his eyes downcast, the child remained silent.
— After that, I’ll make sure everyone is aware of your status as a “hero.”
He summoned his guards loudly. He described how the old grandmother had been humiliated by the youngster smashing the eggs in front of the entire audience. The purchasers screamed their disdain and whistled as the big, strong security pinned him down and pulled him out.
The bully’s entry into the market was blocked after that day. He was no longer someone anyone wanted to deal with.
