My husband humiliated me in front of his colleagues, so I decided to teach him a lesson he would never forget

I made the decision to give my husband a lesson he would never forget after he embarrassed me in front of his coworkers, and this is what I did.

My husband had reserved a meal at a very upscale restaurant to commemorate our first wedding anniversary. The presence of several of his coworkers, including his supervisor, shocked me.

To be honest, I didn’t feel like I belonged among these executives and their assured chatter. Even though I was dressed elegantly in a modest black dress, I felt unimpressive in comparison to my husband’s coworkers’ wives, who were glistening with jewelry and expensive clothing.

We were only going to have this dinner together. It felt more like a work meeting instead. They discussed contracts, initiatives, numbers, etc. but never about us.

“No jewelry, honey?” my husband shouted loudly as he abruptly turned to face me.

Then, with a sarcastic smile, he lifted his glass and added:

Such goods are beyond my wife’s means. She’s really humble. She is hardly above the poverty line, according to some.

His coworkers erupted in laughter. My heart fell at that very instant. In addition to ruining our evening, he had made me look foolish in front of everyone.

I therefore made the decision to give him a lesson he would never forget, and this is what I accomplished.

Please let me know in the comments if you believe I made the correct decision after reading my tale.

That night, I remained silent.

I just gave a courteous grin, but something inside of me cracked.

I spent all of the money I had contributed in our shared bank account the following day while he was at work.

I spent a week at an upscale hotel.

He believed that the money I spent on designer outfits, a spa, and champagne was inconsequential.

I then emailed him a picture of myself holding a glass, glowing, along with the caption, “Modest, maybe, but not stupid.” We will discuss respect—or divorce—when I get back.

The most difficult lessons are sometimes the most important ones.
