After she moved in, my 70-year-old father-in-law got extremely happy and insisted that we soundproof his room. My dearest friend was a maid for us.

Due to my hectic job schedule, I hardly had time to stay at home and take care of my ailing father-in-law after being married apart from my family. I therefore made the decision to assist my best friend when I found out that she was in dire need of employment.

I paid her 10,000 a month to work as a housekeeper. It felt like the ideal solution: I could provide her with financial support while also having someone I could trust.

Everything went well at first. I felt at ease while my pal labored tirelessly. However, after a few weeks, odd things started to occur.

In a sudden change, my father-in-law, who had usually grumbled about being exhausted and finding it difficult to get out of bed, woke up energized, humming to himself, and full of life.

He appeared to have aged by years. In contrast, my friend’s appearance deteriorated daily: her face turned pale, black bags formed beneath her eyes, and her smile became forced. She just said, “Everything’s fine, I’m just getting used to the work,” in response to my inquiries.

But her nervousness was visible in her eyes. Her room was deserted at night, and she returned weary in the morning. As if to conceal her dread, she turned away each time my father-in-law walked into the room.

When my father-in-law insisted on upgrading the house and insisted on having a room with an interior lock and soundproofing, it was the final straw. Why a seventy-year-old guy would require such conditions astounded us.

I pulled my pal aside because I could handle it no more. She finally admitted as her lips quivered. I was completely stunned when I heard what she had to say  😨😱

— “Every night, your insane father-in-law summons me to his room. He says if I don’t lie down with him, he won’t be able to sleep. He says he’ll say things that will have me kicked out of this house if I don’t comply. He also claimed that he took pictures of me while I was taking a bath and that all of the content would be posted online if I didn’t agree.

Do you understand that I’m afraid? Everyone will believe him, he murmurs, but no one will believe me. He claims to love me and wants me to marry him. Are you aware that he is insane? And he may harm us in any way.

I was shocked by what she said. Everything became evident: his ruthless manipulation was the cause of her fatigue and his unexpected vitality.

Her deception and quiet wounded me too much to save our connection, so I sent him to a nursing facility.
