Mom ran into the nursery upon waking up to see that her older son had taken the newborn brother he detested 
The oldest member of the family always faces a lot of difficulties when a younger child is born. It is now necessary to share the affection and care that were once exclusively his.
When a baby boy was born into this household, the parents were ecstatic. However, the fact that the parents gave the newborn their whole attention was a huge setback for the elder son.
Mom would occasionally give him a weary response when he requested for assistance with his studies or to prepare his breakfast:
Do it on your own; I’m exhausted. I’m needed by your younger sibling.
The boy was upset and hurt. His parents became aware of a shift in his behavior toward his brother.
Mom got up at nine o’clock one morning, which was later than normal. This had never occurred since the birth of the child. The child was gone when she peered into the cot. She was seized with terror. She initially believed her husband had abducted the baby, but her father was soundly sleeping next to her.
The older son could have taken him, but that was the only other choice.
Panicked, the wife ran to the older boy’s unoccupied room. Her heart fell. The nursery was flooded by Mom. She witnessed something startling there and could hardly speak:
— Dear God…
The bigger child was rocking his younger brother to sleep again while holding him close to his chest.
Mom said in a shaky voice, “What are you doing?”
The boy answered, “I wanted to put my little brother back to sleep because he woke up.”
— What kept you from waking me up?
— Because, mom, you’re usually so exhausted. I wished for you to rest. Did I make a mistake?
— No, darling, — Mom took a seat next to them and gave both sons hugs. I was just frightened by you.
— Mom, if little brother is with me, does that mean you have a little time?
— Yes, son.
— Then please make me breakfast. I’ve missed your cooking so much…
And at that moment mom realized: she had completely forgotten about her older child. But he also needed love and care no less than the baby.
This is a common mistake many mothers make: when the new baby is born, they forget that their older children are still waiting for warmth, attention, and a simple homemade breakfast.
