“Leave this place, lady! People like you have no place in my organization!The captain yelled angrily at a young soldier, but he had no idea who was in front of him.
The smell of sweat, moisture, and old smoke filled the barracks. The troops sat in the corner like lost shadows, the rusty bunks moaned with every movement, and the floor was covered in a thick layer of dust. Their faces were marked with fatigue and apathy, their boots were ragged, and their clothes were ripped.
Anna was filled with anger the moment she stepped through the door. She had anticipated seeing proud, powerful protectors of the country, but instead she saw men who were hopeless and impoverished.
She approached the captain firmly.
She made a stern demand, “Why are your soldiers living in such conditions?” “Where are the appropriate meals and uniforms? Why does it appear that this barracks is a pigsty?
When the captain saw that the single girl in front of him was helpless, he scowled and gave a cruel smirk:
— “Who are you to inquire about? Do you not fear losing your job?
— “I don’t feel scared,” Anna said firmly. Having to eat food that even pigs would be embarrassed to eat and wear ripped boots disgusts me. My allies and I are concerned about this. Our purpose is to serve, not to live.
Abruptly, the captain moved forward, seized her by the collar, and growled fiercely:
— “Remove yourself, lady! People like you have no place in my organization!
However, the captain was unable to comprehend that the girl in front of him was not your typical one….
Calmly, Anna met his gaze directly and uttered:
– “You’re incorrect. I came specifically for you.
The captain blinked, perplexed.
— “What? Who are you to address a supervisor in that manner?
She produced an ID card and placed it directly beneath his nose.
– “Internal Investigations Lieutenant.” You are the target of several complaints. Because the funds allotted for the unit wind up in your pockets, your men are famished and living in rags. You are a traitor and a thief.
— The captain said, but his voice wavered, “You have no proof.”
— “You’re mistaken,” Anna said icily. “I have all of it: bank transfers, papers, and testimonials. You aren’t a captain anymore.
She ripped the emblem from his shoulders with those words. Two military policemen came into the room at that point. When the captain attempted to escape, they grabbed him and fastened handcuffs to his wrists.
For the first time in a long time, the troops who had been sitting silently in the corner came to life. A glimmer of hope appeared in their eyes.
Anna firmly remarked as she turned to face them:
