For seven years, Alexandre and Camille had been wed. They didn’t have a perfect or sad life. The CEO of a tech company, Alexandre, was frequently absent. In order to care for their daughter Chip and teach art part-time, Camille had quit her job as an architect.

Then the terrible Sunday arrived. The divorce papers were tossed onto the table by Alexandre:

She calmly answered:
“Really? Are you certain? Should I include a few clauses or would you like to renegotiate some terms?
Alexandre, taken aback:

He discovered too late that Camille had changed from the person he had assumed her to be.

Records, compromising pictures with Han, contracts for a new apartment, bank statements, and the deed giving the house to their daughter.
Alexandre’s complexion turned pallid.

His pride was stung by every paper. For too long, he had underestimated her.

Alexandre could not speak. His drafted divorce papers were now used against him.

Calmly, she described: exclusive custody of Chip with quadrupled support, the house out of his reach, and evidence of infidelity ready for court.
Alexandre suffocated. He expected her to plead. He was mistaken.
Three months later, everything was Camille’s. New life, sharp quiet. Regaining freedom, tripling income, and an architecture studio.
Alexandre wrote during a wet night:

She didn’t respond after reading it. All that he was was a scar.
