For almost his entire existence… It seems impossible for many people, but some spend their whole lives with one person. But a lot of people still know that they were with the wrong person after all these years.
This elderly couple’s daughters threw a little party for their parents to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
They invited friends and family and booked a nice place. Everyone had fun on this memorable day by laughing, dancing, and raising their glasses.
After a few glasses of wine and several compliments, the man stood up, looked at his wife, and asked her to dance the tango.

– You know, I knew all of this from the start. But I accepted you for who you are because I had a choice back then: I could either let things happen to me or make my life a story of resilience. I chose the second one.
She stopped, and everyone in the room listened intently.
– Do you really think I lived these 50 years for you? You are wrong. I lived for my kids, my family, and myself. And during that time, I learnt how to be joyful even while I was with someone who didn’t love me. I liked myself, and that was enough to keep the house warm and cozy.
The woman turned to the visitors and her voice got louder:
But if you want to be free today, you should know that I am too. I don’t have to be quiet, put up with anything, or spend the rest of my life with you anymore. I shall live them for myself. And I know what it is to really love and be loved, because no one can take my love away.
It sounded like hundreds of people had taken a breath at once. The husband looked down, his face contorted with anger. He knew he had attempted to make her look bad, but he had made himself look bad instead.
