Minutes after injuring a stray cat, the store employee sincerely regretted what she had done
In a modest grocery store on a busy street corner, it was an ordinary evening. A cat sat in front of the entryway; it was thin, had dull fur, and had gentle eyes that were always worried.
Occasionally, she would stand up and rub her paws against the legs of onlookers. She was already well-known because numerous people frequently gave her food. Some left a slice of bread, while others left a piece of sausage.
The cat cautiously ate the food, but not for herself because three ravenous kittens were waiting for her in an abandoned shed nearby. Because she valued their lives more than her own, she carried every piece to them.
Customers’ attention was drawn to the cat that day when it arrived a bit earlier than usual and started meowing pitifully. A few frequent patrons tossed her a sausage, which she deftly grabbed. People looked on lovingly as she rushed to feed the kittens right away without eating herself. Except for one person, it seems like everyone felt sorry for the unfortunate mother.
The old shop assistant, who had just started working there, was often unhappy and agitated because she thought stray animals detracted from the store’s aesthetics and turned off clients. She only gave a contemptuous snort as she saw the cat come back for more food.
She gritted her teeth and snarled, “Here again?”
And the woman kicked the cat without hesitation when it came close. With a sorrowful meow, the cat fled. However, the shop assistant later felt a great sense of sorrow for what she had done
A girl standing close by saw everything at that same moment. She wanted to adopt one of the kittens and frequently fed this cat. She quickly pulled out her phone and recorded everything on camera after becoming shocked.
She yelled at the shop clerk, “How can you not be ashamed!” but the woman simply waved her away furiously.
The girl knew the video would reveal much more, so she didn’t argue. She included a little text after sharing the video on social media:
This cat requests food for her young rather than for herself. Instead of getting treatment today, she was kicked. Tell the truth to everyone.
The post quickly went viral among city groups. People demanded that the shop worker be punished in their irate comments.
When the shop owner heard about the controversy, he made the quick decision to fire the shop worker that same day in order to protect the store’s reputation.
What about the feline? Oddly enough, her narrative ended happily. Following the video, a lot of people wanted to assist; some donated food, some covered the cost of the veterinarian’s care, and one family even took her and the kittens home.
She no longer had to fear human harshness or beg for food because she had a shelter now. Tamara also gained a lifelong lesson: brutality and apathy always have a cost.
