Eighteen years have passed since Madeleine McCann’s unexplained disappearance, and investigators are still working diligently to solve the case.
German investigators have found a hard disk with pictures they think would reveal the devastating truth: Madeleine is dead. This is a terrifying new development.
A terrifying confession from a prisoner
Madelle McCann, the bright-eyed 3-year-old who disappeared while on a family vacation in Praia da Luz, a resort town in Portugal’s Algarve region, is one of the most enigmatic people in the world.
Her abrupt disappearance in 2007 sparked a worldwide manhunt that generated years of news coverage and conspiracy theories. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, were also suspected at one point.
And the case is still as unsolved and terrifying as it was almost twenty years ago.
However, in recent years, all eyes have been on one man: 48-year-old German Christian Brueckner, who has a troubling record.

Brueckner was formally designated as a suspect in 2020. For the 2005 rape of an American woman in the same area where Maddie vanished, he is presently incarcerated in Germany. Furthermore, it appears that the case against him is getting stronger.
Last year, 50-year-old Romanian national Laurentiu Codin, a former jail cellmate, gave powerful testimony in a German court. Codin claims that while in Portugal, Brueckner boasted of kidnapping a child.
Codin recounted, “He told me that he had stolen in Portugal, that he was in a region of hotels where people are there, I don’t know how to say, rich people, where rich people live.”
Within the proof
However, Brueckner maintains his innocence and denies any role in Madeleine’s disappearance. He might be free as early as September 2025 if the authorities are unable to gather sufficient evidence to charge him.
Does the German police have the necessary evidence, then?
The Sun, which is working with Channel 4 to produce a documentary on the subject, claims that when authorities searched Brueckner’s hideout in Neuwegersleben, central Germany, they discovered some genuinely unsettling objects.
Masks, illegal guns, ammo, bicycles, kid-friendly toys, spooky pictures of young girls, and an astounding 75 kid-friendly swimsuits were among the items discovered, even though Brueckner was childless.

Police also discovered unsettling writings by Christian Brueckner at the compound, which expose a horrifying preoccupation with kidnapping children. In the stories, Brueckner talks about sexually abusing a four-year-old blonde girl and drugging a mother and her daughter outside of a preschool.
Records of horrific Skype conversations with other pedophiles were also discovered by investigators. Brueckner expressed his desire to “capture something small and use it for days” to another user during one of the exchanges.
Photographs showing Brueckner near Arade Dam, only 35 miles from Maddie’s disappearance, were another disturbing clue that detectives noticed. Police have searched the isolated location several times in relation to the case.
To further raise suspicions, Brueckner is reportedly thought to have informed a friend that Madeleine “did not scream” while attending a festival in Spain.
The laptop’s hard drive
The hard disk, which has been in police custody for a long time, is the last straw. German investigators think it contains important evidence, including pictures that seem to show McCann is dead, according to The Mirror. Some of that information is anticipated to be made public in the new documentary tonight, May 7, while the majority of its contents have been kept secret.
Hans Christian Wolters, a German prosecutor, said on Australian television back in 2020:
“We have solid proof that our suspect killed Madeleine McCann and that she is dead. We have sufficient evidence to conclude that our suspect killed Madeleine McCann, even if we do not have the corpse or any of its pieces.
In order to give Maddie’s loved ones some closure and put an end to this horror, I sincerely hope the authorities can eventually figure out what happened to her.
