The internet has a way of swiftly making you feel inferior. For this reason, asking strangers questions online is not something that should be done lightly. When you publish anything online, individuals will assume that their comments are justified and that they can say anything they want.

On TikTok, a woman uploaded a video and invited viewers to guess how old she was. Nothing, though, could have prepared her for the responses she got, which she characterized as “wild.”
Emily Jane challenged others to identify her age after sharing a video of herself without cosmetics or social media filters. She was surprised to learn that some people believed she was in her sixties, while others believed she was in her forties or fifties!
One user remarked, “You must be close to 47 years old, as I am 56.”
“My age is forty-two. “I think you’re about 51,” someone else thought.
Someone posted, “I’m 29, and she’s a really attractive 42.”
One commenter’s assumption that Emily was 58 years old was the best response for her.
“Do I actually appear to be close to sixty years old? As if I’m almost old enough to retire? In a another video, she questioned, “Do I really look that old?”
Naturally, many others believed she was in her thirties, and some even believed she was still in her twenties. The range of guesses was broad.
However, Emily was taken aback by others who assumed she was so elderly and eventually came clean about her age.
She remarked, “I’m only 36 because I turned 36 last week.”
She is also well aware that the reason people perceive her as older is because she no longer dyes her naturally gray hair.
“My hair has been a natural shade of grey for a long time. In her video, she stated, “I started going grey around the age of 19, and people assume that because I have grey hair, I’m over 50.”
She claimed to be surprised that people were assuming she was older despite having grey hair.
In the original video, she claimed that the restless nights she experienced after giving birth to a newborn were the source of her eyebags. She said that she didn’t wear any makeup or filters, which may have made some people stop, but she thought she looked perfectly natural.
No job has ever been done for me. This is my face and how I appear, and I believe this is how the majority of people in my age group would appear if they didn’t wear a filter,” she said.
In her video, she hypothesized that people’s assumptions about her age were more influenced by how social media has shaped people’s perceptions of women than by her.
She claimed that because social media encourages cosmetic procedures and the usage of filters to change features, the majority of people nowadays are unaware of what a woman actually looks like.
“I believe it is crucial to keep in mind that what you see on social media, on TV, or in magazines—and what people have been saying for years—is not true. “What do you think?” she inquired.
Her question to her audience was, “Do you think we have a warped perception of age based on what we’ve been exposed to on social media?”
However, some disagreed with her, claiming that her grey hair was the only thing aging her.
36 approaching 60. One commenter commented, “You are still very gorgeous, but it’s probably your hair that ages you.”
You appear your age, in my opinion. I believe that many believe that white hair only appears as we age. Another person argued, “They can’t get past it.”
The only thing that ages you is your hair. You have beautiful skin,” someone said.
“I think people get confused by a younger person feeling comfortable growing their gray hair out,” said another.
