There is no denying that eyebrows are the ultimate playground for beauty. You can see a wide range of brow trends on social media, including fishtail patterns, Nike swooshes, and unicorn horns.
But just when you thought you had seen it all, the conversation was interrupted by the oddball new halo brows.
Halo brows, like many other strange cosmetic fads, are a product of the wonderfully peculiar world of social media. Trends that defy conventional standards of beauty have found their ideal home on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old influencer from Britain, invented halo brows, which are a halo-like arc across your forehead that joins both brows into one loop. Her new doodles went viral almost immediately.
Lyne comments the Instagram photo in which she presents the style that left others both intrigued and perplexed, saying, “So me and [a friend] were talking about the fishtail brow trend & then we came up with this.”
The beauty blogger clarified in an interview with Pop Sugar that the “look was influenced by fishtail brows” and that it wasn’t a joke.
She explained, “I was talking to a friend about trying to think of a new look when it suddenly occurred to me that I should connect my brow tails.”
In an interview with Yahoo Style, Lyne went on to say, “I just want people to embrace being silly and doing weird, creative looks!”
“Ridiculous” trend
Like many other social media-born trends, halo brows generated a wide range of opinions.
Several Instagram users appeared to adore the design and complimented Lyne’s inventiveness: One user says, “I love it!” while another writes, “All of your styles are very original…Your talent is truly limitless!
“How in the world do you generate your ideas? You always perform them so brilliantly, and they’re so inventive! “You have extraordinary talent,” adds a third.
The majority of internet users, however, were quick to call the revised unibrow a “ridiculous” trend.
One individual comments on Lyne’s Instagram image, saying, “Vomits Uncontrollably.” A second responds, “I don’t know if she’s kidding,” and a third writes, “Instagram? Instaregret is more accurate.
Others, meanwhile, stated that they were “deleting Instagram because of this photo” and that she looked “ridiculous.”
However, Cosmopolitan described the “heavenly halo brows” as “remarkably lovely.”
Regarding the looped eyebrows, the publication states, “Get ready to meet the unconventional, yet gorgeous work of arch.”
It’s entertaining to watch makeup artists experiment with different ways to style their eyebrows, whether they have one or two, even if you don’t agree with the appearance.
