How many times a day do you pick up and use your cell phone? You probably don’t even think about it, like a lot of people, but occasionally you hear a story that makes you think.
A tragedy involving cell phone use occurred recently, therefore it’s critical that people realize the consequences of using them inappropriately. Maria Antonietta Cutillo, a 16-year-old Italian girl, was using her phone at home by herself when it happened.

She had her phone plugged in and operating it while conversing with a friend. She got electrocuted after she dropped the phone in the bathtub while she was also taking a bath.
When she was disconnected and unable to get in touch with her friend again, the friend she was talking to on the phone became worried. When emergency personnel arrived at her house after she had called, they discovered that she had passed away.

Although it is uncommon, cell phone electrocution does occur occasionally. Other cases of electrocution have been reported, especially when the phone was being charged.
You should only use your cell phone while it is not plugged in, just to be safe. Always abide by the manufacturer’s instructions and avoid using your phone in the bathtub. Actually, you shouldn’t charge anything close to water.
