Family that resides in the midst of the roundabout and refuses to sell their property speaks out…

It “does get crowded at times,” according to a family that won’t leave their home in the midst of a circle.

The roundabout next to the Denbigh bypass appears to be in better shape than other roundabouts in the UK, if you drive along the A525.

Considering that Gloucester or Tebay are the right answers, let’s refrain from giving roundabouts the same grade as service stations. Because someone is always there to keep it maintained, this roundabout looks really good.

David John and Eirian Howatson moved into a home without a roundabout 64 years ago, but within the next few decades, everything would change.

After the bypass was created, plans for a roundabout were submitted in the late 1970s, but the family wouldn’t leave their house, so it was just built around them. The roundabout was finished in 1980.

Clwyd Howatson, 64, said he had spent most of his life on the roundabout property, which is still owned by the Howatsons today.

He clarified: “Life on the circle can be hectic at times, especially when the grandchildren visit, but we don’t have any neighbors to worry about.”

“I’ve spent more than 40 years living on the roundabout, so it’s pretty much all I know. In addition, we had lived here for 20 years before it was built, so it had been a family home for a long time.

“How do you get to your house?” is the most frequently asked practical question that arises from living on a roundabout, according to Clwyd. The answer is “pretty self-explanatory with the drive at the bottom,” he claimed.
The roundabout resident said, “The second question is always, ‘Is it noisy?’ which it isn’t.”

We have double glazing, so it doesn’t affect us, and the road only becomes really crowded during peak hours, which are just a few times a day. In my opinion, it’s like living next to any road, but it’s not too bad.

On the other hand, it can be difficult to exit the roundabout. There are a few double takes when individuals are on a roundabout since they don’t expect someone to come out of the roundabout itself.

“We don’t really have any problems with it; we just tend to wait until it’s a bit quieter, which is usually the case.” “It can also be a little awkward if someone lets you go because someone might be approaching on the other lane.”

Because many drivers are unaware that the destination is on the circle itself and their SatNav isn’t working properly, it can be difficult to deliver products to the residence.

If delivery drivers have never been in the area before, they can wind up going to other homes nearby before Clwyd warns them that they are “on” the roundabout.

Due to roundabouts, which can crash with houses, the family has been fortunate to escape catastrophic incidents. However, some cars were permitted to drive in the opposite direction when the roundabout was first constructed.

For the foreseeable future, the family intended to remain in the residence.
