Ty Pennington was brought to the hospital and intubated just hours after attending the Barbie premiere. He is currently giving his fans an update on his health.
Pennington, well known for playing the carpenter on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, shared pictures of himself wearing a medical gown on Instagram on July 14.
Pennington was unconscious after an intubation before he managed to regain consciousness. “The journey from the red carpet to the intensive care unit has been an incredible week!”
“I’m okay now, still recovering, but I felt it looked strange that I hadn’t posted about my team’s #BOTB VICTORY!” Pennington then said to his followers. I am so proud of @smashingdiy and @iamstevelewis!
Pennington continued by giving a summary of what happened after that. “To clarify why I disappeared… I attended the Barbie the Movie red carpet on Sunday. I started shooting in Breckinridge, Colorado, on Monday. I was barely breathing when I woke up at around four in the morning on Tuesday. I’ve discovered that the sore throat I’ve had for the past month is actually an abscess that has grown to the point that it is blocking my airway. I was taken to the Denver intensive care unit after being intubated.
The patient stated, “I was released from the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon after having surgery on Wednesday.” For the wonderful medical care I received, I would want to thank St. Anthony’s in Lakewood, Colorado, and Summit Health in Frisco. Pennington wrote the words, “Just happy to be here,” behind the hashtag, and it’s a great reminder to listen to your body when it’s trying to tell you something.
How awful! We are thrilled to hear that Pennington is doing well and that his recuperation is going well.
