Spiral Bulb Fire Risk: One Man’s Viral Warning Could Save Your Home!

The thought of my house catching fire is one of my worst nightmares. For this reason, I make sure my smoke alarms have new batteries every time I go to bed and unplug my phone charger before doing so.

Jason Whitaker nearly lost his home to fire in the fall of 2019. He had been noticing a strange smell for a while and thought it might be an electrical problem. He looked all over his house, but he didn’t realize there might be a threat until much later.

It came from a spiral lightbulb. Jason felt obligated to share his story on Facebook to notify his loved ones after realizing how close a calamity was to him.

Jason started his Facebook post with the warning, “These light bulbs can burn your house down.”

However, what ignited the smoldering bulb?

Jason shared pictures of the lightbulb, which revealed that after spending four to five years in a lamp, it had filled with ladybugs. It seemed like the ladybugs had settled in between the bulb’s spirals.

Jason’s post is obviously going viral because it has been shared over 430,000 times. Still, a lot of individuals are ignorant of the fire hazard that these lightbulbs may pose.

It’s not the goal to incite needless dread, and I doubt Jason intended to do that either. However, this is absolutely something to consider. While you’re checking the other lights in your house, take a moment to look for these kinds of bulbs. Though straightforward, this action could save lives!

Jason said, “Just a quick heads-up, everyone.” “I’ve previously experienced the horror of a home fire. I couldn’t stop smelling like this.
