Her daughter called her fat after they went swimming – now her response has the internet cheering

Using the term “fat” to describe someone hurts. However, why is that actually the case?

After a mother of two named Allison told her account of what happened when she went swimming with her kids lately, everyone was left wondering. Allison, 30, responded brilliantly when her daughter called her overweight, and her reply is currently going viral on the internet.

Allison Kimmey began dieting when she was just 14 years old. Through graduate school, she was able to keep her weight in check, but it wasn’t easy and she wasn’t content. After reaching a size eight three years prior, at the age of 27, Allison came to the realization that she would be content if she gave up trying to control her weight growth.

Allison created the @allisonkimmey Instagram account, where she posts motivational messages and photos, as a way to inspire herself. Although Allison’s body positivity uplifts and delights her followers, not everyone always hears her vital message.

Allison recently took her daughter and son to the pool. When it was time to leave, Allison’s kid called her names and got upset. Allison posts a description of the event on Instagram.

“What did you say about me?” I asked.

Her: “Mama, I told you you were fat.” I apologize.

Me: “Let’s discuss it. Actually, I’m not overweight. Nobody IS overweight. You are not able to BE it. However, I AM overweight. EVERYONE is overweight. It gives us energy, which maintains our body functioning while safeguarding our bones and muscles. Are you overweight?

She said, “Yes!” This is what’s on my stomach.

Me: “You’re right! Both your brother and I agree with this!

Her brother: “I’m not overweight. I have the thinnest body. All I have are muscles.

Me: “The truth is that every single individual on the planet is obese. However, our individual amounts vary.

Her sibling: “Oh, I see. I’ve got some to shield my large muscles! However, you have more than I do.

Me: “That is accurate. While some people have very little, others have a lot. However, that does not imply that one individual is superior to another. Are you both in agreement?

“Yes, mama,” said both.

“Can you repeat what I said?” I asked.

Them: “Certainly! I shouldn’t call someone fat since there is no such thing as pure fat—everyone has some level of fat, and that’s good.

Me: “That’s exactly right!”

In addition to teaching her kids social skills, Allison believed it was critical to convey the idea that all people are created equal, regardless of their physical appearance. Her Instagram post has now gone viral.

Allison adds, “If I shame my kids for using it, I’m demonstrating that it’s a derogatory term and I’m feeding the stereotype that being overweight is disgusting, unattractive, and unworthy.”

What a wonderful, inspirational woman! Rather than passing judgment on each other based only on appearances, we should be better at supporting one another. If you concur, please share!
