We announce the loss of Sandy Posey, a cherished singer from the 1960s, with heavy hearts. Sandy’s timeless music made a lasting impression on many people, as did her compelling tale and soulful voice. At the age of eighty, she died quietly in Tennessee, surrounded by her devoted husband, Wade Cummins.
Sandy’s early years in Jasper, Alabama, were the beginning of her musical journey. She grew up loving the classic country music that reverberated throughout the South and the deep gospel tones of her neighborhood church. Sandy moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to follow her aspirations, and it was there that her skill really started to show. She began her professional singing career at the esteemed American Sound Studio as a session singer.
