Little Johnny, who is in seventh grade, used to question his instructor a lot.
Johnny enquired of his English teacher one day,
Why do we pronounce some letters differently than others, such as the letter H in hour, honor, etc.?
His English instructor stated,
“They are silent, but we are not ignoring them.” (He became even more perplexed..?)
His teacher gave him her packed meal during the lunch break and requested Johnny to reheat it in the cafeteria.
After devouring the entire meal, Little Johnny gave her back the empty container….
His English instructor:
What took place? You should go HEAT my food, I told you. I’m getting back an empty container from you.
In response, Little Johnny said,
“Madam, I believed that ‘H’ was silent.”
