Halle Berry recalls how much fun it was to film The Flintstones.

 

In an Instagram video, the Oscar winner discussed her portrayal of Miss Stone in the 1994 film, highlighting how it was a “big step” for Black women in the entertainment business.

Fans have been emailing Berry,57, about The Flintstones for a long time, so even though she claimed she hadn’t seen the film in 20 years, she was eager to see it again.

The actress said, “You know, The Flintstones was the fabric of our culture. Being a Black woman in Bedrock seemed like a little thing.”

 

“I knew that this was a big step forward for Black people, especially Black women,” the woman continued.

In the live-action adaptation of the 1960s animated series, Berry portrayed Sharon Stone, the seductive secretary of Fred Flintstone (John Goodman).

The actual According to reports, Sharon Stone was meant to play the same-named character, but schedule issues prevented her from doing so. Berry ultimately secured the role in the end.

 

The actress from Cloud Atlas acknowledged the significance of having a Black character in the live-action Flintstones film in her video.

“Even though it was campy and ridiculous, I knew at the time how important this little part in this big movie actually would be,” the woman went on.

The Flintstones starred Elizabeth Taylor in her farewell film performance, Rick Moranis, Rosie O’Donnell, Elizabeth Perkins, and Kyle MacLachlan in addition to Berry and Goodman, 71.

 

In honor of the comedy’s landmark anniversary, Berry was ecstatic to revisit it and pay tribute to her “iconic” short hairstyle, which would later come to define her look throughout the 1990s.

She wrote as the caption for her Instagram video, “You guys message me about The Flintstones film every year so I thought I’d do something special for the 30th anniversary.”

 

“Love you all for loving Miss Stone all this time,” Berry said in closing.
