Brad and Rachel are surprised because their mother only gave them one bouquet of flowers for their gift-exchanging. However, the couple is left in the dark when his coded message turns out to be the key to unlocking their true present.
The day of our wedding was exactly what I had always wanted it to be: a private ceremony attended only by our closest friends and family. Brad and I have always planned a lavish celebration for our marriage.
“C’est une fête, Rachel,” he said one night as we were getting ready. An entire day to celebrate! »
But Brad’s father, Daniel, returns to a sickbed and becomes quite depressed. Brad and I decided to review our marriage since we needed something quickly because we were unaware of the time that had passed for Brad’s father.
“Irrespective of what transpires,” Daniel said, taking our hands during a family gathering. You will get married. « Don’t worry! »
We carried on arranging even though we knew he wouldn’t be at our wedding since we had promised him.

Six months before to our marriage, Brad’s father passes away peacefully.
Brad and I changed our vows on the day of our marriage while her young sisters delighted us in perfect harmony. Following the presentation ceremony, my parents offered us a honeymoon that included a week-long stay in an opulent hotel as well as funds to cover incidentals.
Ma mère a dit, “Allez, profitez-en,” handing us the envelope with the information. “Benefit from this time to heal and meditate on your father’s memory, Brad.” »
When it came time for Vera, my mother-in-law gave her an unattractive bunch of flowers.
Her large eyes embraced us as she began to cross her legs.
“I couldn’t contribute it here,” she said, her voice only a faint murmur behind the scenes of the celebration. The 1964 code is in effect. »

1964? Brad looked back, his expression bewildered.

« Quêt-ce que significe? Tentatively, I demanded of my mother-in-law.
I knew that even though she had a lot of sympathy for us, celebrating so soon after Brad’s father passed away had affected her.
“You will understand soon,” she said.
Before running away into the crowd, she gave us another cryptic look and gave us confused looks.
Brad and I were lying in our hotel room reading Vera’s words while we reminisced.
A week later, upon our return from our honeymoon, Brad shows up in the room with a huge colis.
“Ici,” said the speaker. “Come open this with me.”
There was a mini-safe inside the box with our initials engraved on the back.
“It’s closed,” Brad said, running his fingers through his hair.
“Write about 1964,” I said, recalling Vera’s remarks from our nuptials.
Brad reached forward and grabbed the code, causing the security system’s doors to open.
There was a handwritten letter and a sizable sum of money, neatly packed in lovely boxes.
“Wow,” exclaims Brad. Is this my mother? »
I approached the letter with an eagerness to learn more. Leaning over carefully, I started to read aloud.

“Cher Brad and Rachel,” you say? If you are reading this letter, it means that I am no longer physically with you.
When we read of Daniel’s love for us, his words resonated in my own voice. He wrote on how his illness had affected him for so long, including the chance to witness his son get married. Additionally, she demands that Brad take care of her sisters, hoping that when the time comes for their marriages, Brad will support them with the love and respect of a father.
Brad murmurs, “Incredible,” in an emotive voice. Unable to hold back my tears as well.
“Maman?Brad stated over the phone. It has been delivered to us. Come have dinner with us.

This dinner party, we made Daniel’s specialty, dumplings, and set a plate with an assiette for each person. Brad and I will be able to make some progress on the house we have always wanted thanks to his kind donation.
Throughout the entire evening, Vera’s eyes gleamed whenever we thought of Daniel’s gestures and words.
That’s what I want, she declared. “I want to preserve his memory.” »
I smiled and turned to face Vera to take her place. She grasps at mon dos.
“I don’t regret it,” Brad said, sipping his beer. “I will be the one he spoke of in his letter.” »
Brad and I have reached our first milestone together today—our first wedding anniversary. And we have a boy baby on the way. Brad would like to call him Daniel in honor of his father.
We gave Vera a bouquet of flowers along with a pair of blue baby shoes with the lacets wrapped around the flowers when we broke the good news to her.
She answered exactly what I thought she would.
