Following Bruce Springsteen’s social media confirmation of his mother Adele’s passing, condolences are flooding in for the legendary singer.
Yesterday, the Boss announced on Instagram that his mother had passed away at the age of 98. He shared a moving eulogy along with a video of her dancing. Lyrics from his well-known 1998 hit song The Wish, which was allegedly inspired by his mother, were included in the post’s caption.

“Although I’m older, you’ll recognize me right away. One of the songs is, “We’ll find us a little rock ‘n roll bar and we’ll go out and dance.”
Springsteen revealed to a Broadway crowd back in 2021 that Adele, who was 95 years old at the time, had been unable to speak or stand for ten years due to Alzheimer’s disease.
We’ve lost a lot because of that, the 74-year-old stated. He went on to say that even with her illness, “she still feels the need to dance.”
Springsteen stated on Instagram that his mother’s birthday is May 4, 1925. The cause of death is yet unknown.
Adele is said to have served as the basis for Springsteen’s hit song American Land in addition to serving as the inspiration for The Wish. In a 2002 interview with Uncut magazine, the Born to Run singer discussed how he was influenced by his mother.
“In certain ways, I was inherited from my mother. I was highly impressed by her extraordinary consistency in work every day of her life.
Sometimes I would go see her at work, and there were a lot of men and women there who appeared to be working toward a goal. I was greatly inspired by such small deeds.
