Tragic news regarding the renowned American actress Raquel Welch was revealed by TMZ on February 15. Family members claim that Welch passed away at the age of 82.
Her relatives verified that she passed away following a brief fight with an undisclosed disease. Her official cause of death is still unknown.
The American actress Raquel Welch, who gained popularity for her part in Fantastic Voyage, took a break from the spotlight back in 2019. She was a Hollywood face that everyone admired for years.
These are reportedly the final images of Welch that are available:
Following her initial appearance on the scene in the 1960s, Welch quickly gained international notoriety as a sexual icon. She went on to star in numerous other iconic films, including Legally Blonde, The Three Musketeers, and many more.
Welch’s latest known interview was with the Sunday Post in the United Kingdom in 2018. Welch said in the interview that although receiving attention is good, she has relished her time away from the spotlight.
“It feels good to be recognized. “It’s better than not being noticed, in my opinion,” she said. “Like any other actor or actress, my entire career has been about getting noticed, so I’m thankful that people are still interested.”
She also discussed how she got started and her quick ascent to prominence following the release of Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years BC.
“After working on relatively modest roles, I filmed another movie, which was a major step up for me. “I was the dinosaur lady first and the science lady second; it was Fantastic Voyage and should have been released before One Million Years BC, but the special effects delayed it,” she stated to The Sunday Post.
“They both had a significant impact on my career. I was in demand the next day. I was essentially an extra before that.
Welch never believed her life would be like this, even though she had always wanted to be a performer.
“I wanted to perform, but I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I started ballet class when I was seven years old, and I worked very hard until I was seventeen. At that point, I had matured considerably, and my teacher had to tell me that I wasn’t cut out for ballet.
Welch was saddened by that, but she didn’t give up. She also maintained her attention on what mattered throughout it all.
“I graduated with honors because I kept up with my schoolwork and always tried to do my best.”
“I never gave up on my dream, and now that I had some credentials, I knew I had something to fall back on in case my career as an actress didn’t work out,” she said.
“Therefore, I received a scholarship to study theater arts at San Diego State College.”
She initially met James Welch, her first husband, during school. “Even though I was very young, I was in love.”
After having two kids, James and I broke up. I quit studying acting and made the decision that we ought to go to Dallas. It seemed like a fresh start.
However, after barely scraping by for a while, Welch acknowledged it wasn’t good enough for her, so she relocated her family to Los Angeles. And the rest is history, as they say!
“I believe that after a number of my films, TV series, and stage plays, people came to understand that I wasn’t just there to look good on a movie poster. Actually, I could act too.
Welch will turn 82 in September, however it’s unknown what she’s up to at the moment.
