Keith Urban is talking candidly about how his wife Nicole Kidman taught him what matters most in life.
Urban, 54, spoke candidly about a wide range of subjects in an interview on Wednesday, including his family life, his battle with addiction, and his shifting priorities.
The country music singer checked himself into rehab multiple times in his early career; the most recent visit occurred just a few months after he wed Kidman, 54, in 2006. The musician, who during the interview quipped, “I’d like to stay married,” in response to a party invitation, saw a significant shift in his life after getting married.
“I guess I used to do this thing where I would weigh the consequences of everything I did and determine if it was worth it. Most of the time, I decided it was worth it in spite of the issues it would cause,” he said to the outlet.
“I’d say, ‘I know this is going to cause this issue, but it will be bloody fun,'” he went on. It’s true that the nighttime me despises the daylight me. However, the nighttime me of the following morning is completely absent – he is completely unaccountable.
But these days, Sunday, 13, and Faith, 11, are Urban’s main priorities.
These days, life is completely different. The singer of “The Fighter” added, “I’m trying to set a good example for the kids, but I’m not sure if I’m getting it right.”
You have to figure out what works for you; I have made a lot of blunders. “I always tell them to pursue their passions; as long as they put in the necessary effort to succeed, I don’t care,” he said. Nic and I put in a lot of work. It felt to me like making two payments of dues. After moving to the US and having to start over from scratch, I worked my way up through the Australian clubs to secure a record deal.
“Fortunately, things worked out a second time,” he continued.
The “Cop Car” singer spoke candidly with The Times last month, stating, “It took me a long time to believe I was wired the same because my dad was an alcoholic and I grew up in an alcoholic household.”
I enjoy that my audience can just come and have a fantastic time, so I don’t talk about it much. I have nothing against booze or drugs. The vocalist of “One Too Many” went on, “Everyone does what they want to do to have a great time.” “I discovered that I have an allergy to it.” Do you have an allergy? someone asked. What occurs after consuming alcohol? “I break out in cuffs,” I remarked.
After performing in a Las Vegas concert less than twenty-four hours prior, Kidman revealed in March on E!’s Live from the Red Carpet that Urban had flown to Los Angeles to support her at the 2022 Oscars, where she was nominated for her role in Being the Ricardos.
“I just feel so content to be here. The Oscar winner exclaimed, “I’m very delighted to be here with my husband who flew in and landed at 1:00 a.m. last night to play in Vegas. “Whatever it requires.”
