Baby mocked for having white hair – years later, he looks perfectly happy and healthy

Many parents want to capture pictures of their newborns and post them online.

In this way, Patricia Williams was not any different. She captured her son in a loving photo. When she attempted to share his images with others, she got a bad surprise.

Although the small kid was born with white hair, his mother didn’t become aware of any other aspects of him until he was two months old.

The baby’s eyes were shifting side to side, and when her husband Dale decided to find out why, he was astonished to discover that it was a symptom usually connected to albinism. The small youngster had all the signs of albinism, including pale skin, white hair, and tracking eyes, but Patricia was skeptical because she had never even heard the term before.

The couple’s next step was to seek a formal diagnosis by visiting a geneticist and an optician. Redd was found to have Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1 (OCA1), a condition that affects 1 in 17,000 people worldwide.

Patricia recalls the anticipation among the hospital staff to see the newborn with the white hair and blue eyes when Redd was delivered. Because she, her husband, and her firstborn son, Gage, all had blonde hair at the time, Patricia did not object.

Redd’s hair was so white that it would sparkle in the son a month after they had brought him home, she said.

Despite her attempts to block them, he would not shift his gaze away and would continue to follow her. In certain lighting conditions, his incredibly blue eyes would shine red.

Patricia was certain that her kid would outgrow these traits, but she was unaware that they persisted until the birth of her second son, who also had the same issue.

In February 2018, Rockwell was born with the same disease as his older sibling. The newborn baby boy’s images were stolen from social media users, who then used them to make depraved memes.Redd had also experienced bullying at school as a result of his unusual appearance.

His older brother Gage began to keep an eye out for him as a result. Rockwell’s parents, however, were completely ready because they were knowledgeable about albinism at the time of his birth. They did not, however, foresee their young son’s pictures becoming into a trend.

Dale and Patricia originally attempted to persuade everyone who had shared the image to remove it, but they quickly came to the conclusion that this was impossible, so they decided to simply ignore the situation.

They decided to take up the cause of raising awareness about bullying of kids who have the condition of being different in order to stop it. As soon as Redd’s albinism was confirmed by professionals, Patricia became quite upset.

She was worried about how the family relationships would change if they had a child who burned easily and would eventually grow blind, as well as how the child would be treated in life as a result of being different.

She explained the significance of Rockwell’s attentiveness. In her words, “It’s very unusual to see a baby with white hair, and Rockwell’s hair sticks straight up, so it’s very noticeable.”

As images of her son became a common meme, she developed a sizable fan base. She soon discovered that few people were aware of albinism when she started receiving questions about her son’s appearance.

She was aware that the majority of people’s knowledge of albinism came from obscure movies with little representation. As a result, she felt she had a unique opportunity to spread knowledge about albinism.

After having eye surgery to address his strabismus, Redd switched from a special school for blind kids to a public school. The operation was a smart decision taken by the family because Redd benefited much from it.

They decided against giving Redd an eye patch because they believed it would make the child stand out even more and attract attention. As Redd grew older, his “differences” were less and less noticeable to his companions.

Redd was just like any other child in that he could play outside without any extra gear—all he needed was a hat, some dark sunglasses, and sunscreen. Likewise, his younger brother Rockwell succeeded like Redd did.

In a video Patricia shared on April 28, 2023, from his school’s “Western Day,” Rockwell may be seen. This time, the young person on social media received a lot of love and support. The little kid was described as “cute” and “adorable.”

According to Patricia, it’s a common misconception that persons with albinism have red eyes. She remarked that they commonly had light blue eyes since their eyes lack pigment.

Now the lads are flourishing and having the time of their lives!
